CATAWBA COUNTY DEVELOPMENT- LAKE NORMAN

River Oaks at Lake Norman - A $300 million project off I 40 and US 70 at the boundary where the Catawba River becomes Lake Norman, that includes two separate, yet linked, gated communities. Residents of each will be members of both and pay one fee for access to amenities in both communities. All residents will also pay one fee for a bundled communications package  It will be a master-planned community covedring 1000 acres onn and near the Catawba River in Catawba and Iredell counties north and south of US. 70.  It's intended to have a resort-style self-contained feeling.  According to Red Dirt Alert, the developers are about ready to begin selling lost in two neighborhoods on the Iredell side of River Oaks:  The Fairways and the Landings.  They are to be luxury gated home communities with lots of an acre and houses selling for approx. $400,000 and up.  The Catawba County side, the 511 acre River Oaks Village will have 2,200 residential units plus 500,000 sq. ft. of retail & commercial.  It is to be designed as a pedestrian friendly style similar to Huntersville's Birkdale Village, with sidewalks, old-fashioned streets, a public park, walking trails and lake access. 

The Fairways at River Oaks - About 80 estate homes on 200 acres surrounding the former North Carolina National Golf Course. Set in a rolling wooded area, the newly named River Oaks Golf Course has received a multimillion-dollar renovation and will retain its natural areas. A new clubhouse will be built. Homes will be 2,500 square feet and up and will range in price from $500,000 to more than $1million. The homebuilder is LKN Builders. Four homes in the 80 lot subdivision are under construction with work on the clubhouse to begin this summer.

The Landings - A 164-acre waterfront community of 207 single-family homes. The project includes The Catawba Club, a clubhouse with pools, fitness, tennis and boating. Homebuilders are LKN Builders, Constable Builders and Tegland-Brown construction. Wynne Residential Developers of Richmond plans condos in a nearby future project. Town of Catawba is slated to receive a project by Richmond based Wynne Residential Developers partner called River Oaks Village at Lake Norman, with 2,300 residences and a commercial district inspired by Birkdale Village in Huntersville. The Village’s planned Location is directly across the lake via the US 70 bridge from The Landings
